DEHRADUN: In a first, a rural entrepreneurship summit was organised in the city on Tuesday, with an aim to make villagers self-reliant by setting up their own start-ups and to generate job opportunities for the youth here who are forced to migrate in search of employment.
According to the secretary of the rural development department BVRC Purushottam, it was the first of its kind summit in the country where investors were invited to aid entrepreneurs coming from rural hilly areas.
During the summit, around 16 investors committed to providing financial assistance of Rs 1.25 crore to 19 incubatees under the government initiative of rural business incubation (RBI) which is termed “Gullak”. Apart from this, a grant of Rs 5.2 lakh was also given to these incubatees by the investors.
Addressing the incubatees and investors, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that they have started to work on setting up RBI Gullak in every district, and soon 11 more such centres will be operational across the state.
