License of school cancelled after alleged rape of four-year-old

HYDERABAD: Taking a strong objection against the school where the alleged rape of a four-year-old child took place, the Education Minister Savitha Indra Reddy asked the Hyderabad District Education Officer to cancel the license of the school located in Banjara Hills.
The Education Minister stated that sufficient efforts must be made to transfer the students currently studying in the school to other schools in the vicinity in order to ensure their academic year is not compromised. The entire process of transfer of students will be conveyed by the DEO.
She has also stated that a committee headed by the Education Secretary Vakati Karuna will be formed to advise the government on the security measures to be taken to prevent such incidents in future. The committee will include the director of the school education department, the secretary of the women and child welfare department and the DIG level officers from Woman’s safety wing in Telangana police will be members of this committee. The committee will submit its report within a week, she said.
Based on this report, special measures will be taken regarding the safety of the students. The Minister stated that there is a need to take steps to ensure that such incidents do not occur, such as obtaining a guarantee from the owners of the respective schools.
