BHUBANESWAR: Undergraduate students of government-funded technical institutions and the students referred by various academies can apply for winter internship programmes offered by IIT Bhubaneswar. It will start from December 3 and continue till December 31.
Duration of the internship will be not less than three weeks and not exceeding four weeks during winter vacations of the institute. The candidates can apply online by visiting the institute’s website. The institute will scrutinize applications of the students before coming up with a final list of selected students.
Official sources said the institute will also allow meritorious students from private institutions after reviewing their applications. “Many students do not get an opportunity to study in IITs. During the programme, they can feel the educational atmosphere of IIT and access to its facilities,” said an official of the IIT Bhubaneswar.
Students can get internships in the fields related to the School of Basic Sciences, Earth, Ocean and Climate Sciences, Electrical Sciences, Infrastructure, Mechanical Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management and Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. These students can avail laboratory and other academic facilities here.
“The students selected for internship may be provided hostel accommodation, if available, on payment of appropriate fees. The costs towards food and access to other amenities have to be paid by the student,” said a notification issued by the institute.
Students have to submit a report of their work after completion of the internship. The institute will issue a ‘Training Completion Certificate’ to the students. But it will not award any grade for the work carried out by the interns during the programme, said the official sources.
