Ranjita has received the award named Social Impact Leader of the Year.
Ranjita, originally from Sambalpur, Odisha, is running a campaign called Pad Period Leave in the country to provide one day paid leave to working women during menstruation. Inspired by Ranjita’s campaign, more than a dozen companies in Rajasthan, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi have also started giving one day pad leave to their female employees during menstruation.
She had to quit her job to start this campaign nine months ago. She has also filed a public interest litigation on the occasion of World Menstruation Day 2022. Under pad period leave, she is meeting the owners of private companies across the country to convince them to allot one day pad leave to their female employees. She is also meeting labour ministers and officials to make any legal provision in this regard at the government level.
Ranjita says that she will do everything possible to get one day’s paid leave for women during menstruation in the country. She is pursuing her LLM.
